The Director General of the agency, Dr. Ifedayo Adetifa, who appeared before the committee to give account of the agency’s spending, said for March to December 2020, the agency got N620 million; for March 2020 to March 2021, it got N5 billion; and for January 2021 to September 2021, it got N3.49 billion from the Federal Government to combat the dreaded virus.
According to the House of Representatives’ resolution, the Committee was mandated to investigate the allegation on the deliberate and reckless refusal by non treasury funded Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to remit audited accounts covering 2014 – 2018 to the Auditor General of the Federation.
Consequently, the office had raised different queries to management of the agency who are to appear before the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives being chaired by Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke (PDP-OSUN) to defend the queries
The Committee being chaired by Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke (PDP-OSUN) handed down the ruling while grilling the management of the agency led by Comproller of Customs, S I Ibrahim on the audit queries raised against the agency by the office of the Auditor General of the Federation.
At Tuesday’s sitting by the Committee chaired by Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke(PDP-OSUN) during which only three queries could be taken, it was discovered that over N3.9 billion was reportedly expended by the agency with proper documents to back up the expenditures which angered the members of the committee.
The Chairman of the Committee, Hon Busayo Oluwole Oke, (PDP-OSUN) who gave the order on Friday following the absence of the managements of the agencies at the resumed investigative hearing on the queries raised against the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, of the Federal Government on non-rendition of their financial accounts, declared that failure to appear before the Committee would lead to issuance of bench warrant of arrest against them.
While speaking at the short ceremony, Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Hon. Busayo Oluwole Oke ( PDP-OSUN) expressed satisfaction over the feat.
