A statement on Sunday by FAAN’s spokesman, Yakubu Dati, added: “The last recruitment exercise in the Authority took place between March and May, 2015 to recruit officers into the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service(ARFFS), Aviation Security(AVSEC) and Information Communication Technology departments which had shortage of professional staff. The exercise was concluded in May, 2015

The statement said the last recruitment in the authority took place between March and May, adding that it was the recruitment of officers into the Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting Service

Ayodele said that the closure, which lasted for almost two months, was to enable the organisation to carry out comprehensive rehabilitation of the runway and the fire tenders.
He said though the airport was generating an average of N15 million to N20 million monthly, the closure was inevitable.

The statement said: “The runway rehabilitation work is part of a routine maintenance programme designed by the authority to ensure that airport runways and other ancillary facilities do not fall below standards recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organisation
