Dr. Ade Abolurin, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Saturday said he was sure the…
Abolurin disclosed this on Monday in Abuja at a meeting with senior officers of the Corps as part of efforts to strengthen its operational strategy
“The specialised unit, established to tackle emergency situations related to chemical poisoning and nuclear explosions, has also carried out a simulation exercise as part of its operational strategy,” he said
He pointed out that based on the NSCDC personnel’s orientation and contributions through the various town hall meetings and stakeholders programme organized at different fora for the purpose of peaceful conduct of the elections, they are better placed to achieve the task of being agents of positive change
He charged personnel to embrace peace and work hand in hand with other sister security agencies for efficient manning of sensitive and non-sensitive election materials, the polling venues, election officials and protecting collation centres and other designated areas
Similarly, he advised political actors, agitators and co-players in politics to embrace peace towards nation building as the 2015 general elections draw closer.
The Corps leader, Dr. Ade Abolurin, reiterated that the race to the helm of leadership is not a ‘do or die’ affair and therefore warned miscreants planning to cause commotion and confusion during the February 2015 elections to have a rethink as the Corps will not tolerate anyone aiming to truncate the electoral process
The attack was allegedly orchestrated by the arrest of some suspected vandals and oil thieves on the waters in possession of petroleum products in several jerry cans, including two big Cotonou boats
The NSCD boss gave the warning on Saturday in Ado-Ekiti, during a one-day assessment visit to the command
Abolurin, who spoke with The Eagle Online on the telephone, said Bamidele was summoned to Abuja shortly after the report reached him that Adebayo was injured in the process of carrying out his lawful duties
