Dr. Ade Abolurin, the Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, on Saturday said he was sure the judo sport in Nigeria would rule the sporting world.
Abolurin said this at the ongoing National Judo Open trials organised by the Nigeria Judo Federation ahead of the forthcoming 11th All-Africa Games scheduled for Brazzaville, Congo.
Abolurin, who was decorated by the NJF as the Federation’s Grand Patron and blue belter, said the game was still growing and improving.
“Judo in Nigeria is still growing and improving, but I can tell you that we (Nigeria) will rule the world through judo,” he said.
The NSCDC Commandant-General also assured the Federation of his support while admonishing it to do more to promote the game.
He also said his decoration as Grand Patron was to encourage the Corps, adding that the Corps had always provided a platform for sporting activities.
He said: “I appreciate the gesture and I see it as a form of encouragement for all of us.
“It will serve also as a reference point to the good work the Corps have rendered in the development of sports and in creating employment opportunities.”
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the two-day trials held at the NSCDC Academy ended on Saturday.
