The minister said that the Federal Executive Council had approved the establishment of a National Paramilitary Academy to train correctional officers.

This was disclosed after he received the new Controller of Correctional Service, Lagos, Comp Francis Adebisi, and his entourage, at the Police Command headquarters, Ikeja the state capital.

The upsurge in the crimes was first noticed since the #ENDSARS protests that led to the release of no fewer than 1,900 from two Correctional Centres, burning of at least eight police stations and the looting of their armouries by hoodlums.
