President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit to Edo on Tuesday may have been cancelled as the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference, initially billed to hold in Benin City has been shifted to Maiduguri, Borno State.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Maj.-Gen. David Ahmadu, Chief of Training and Operations, Army headquarters who represented Buratai, said the Nigerian Army would continue to accord priority attention in providing atmosphere conductive for its officers to operate optimally.
He noted that the institution would create employment and add to the revenue base of the state.
The Chief of Army Staff, while fielding questions from journalists that accompanied him, stated that he was there to see things for himself, asses the situation and give necessary directives.
He said the conference was an annual activity to appraise the performances of Nigerian Army formations in combating security challenges in their areas of responsibilities
