An unprecedented turnout greeted the inauguration of the Kaduna State executives of the Atiku Care Foundation at the Arewa House on Saturday.
The news of the attendance of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, spread through the city and several supporters besieged the venue.
Even when it turned out that the Wazirin Adamawa was represented by one of his sons at the inauguration, the crowd of supporters filled the hall and outside, making entrance or exit nearly impossible.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Atiku Care Foundation Kaduna, Comrade Ibrahim Dahiru Danfulani, said he was happy that the dream has come to fruition after two good years of hard work, determination and focus on achieving this noble goal.
Danfulani said: “It has taken the toll of substantial commitment from people of like minds within the 23 local government areas of the state, whose aim and objectives is primarily to assist the community and country at large that they were born and live in and to support Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Wazirin Adamawa Project to make Nigeria great.”
He described the Wazirin Adamawa as a pillar of democracy, pointing out the important role he played in the constitutional conference, which formed most part of the 1999 Constitution, which is currently in use in the country.
He said: “Waziri Adamawa has been in this battle before we were born.
“He has demonstrated rare love for Nigeria and Nigerians in several ways.
“Your Excellency, ladies and gentlemen, we would love to remind you that your sacrifices have not been in vain as it forms the motivation that has endeared several patriotic youth in Nigeria to look up to you as a role model and do all possible within the laws to support you and spur you in to emerge as Nigeria’s president, God willing, in 2019.”
Speaking further, Danfulani said though they have on their own sacrificed through taxing themselves, they would be more visible and influential with more resources at their disposal.
He said: :We have within the two-year period since existence touched the lives of communities, especially at the grassroots, using the foundation as a platform to intervene.
“At Ramadan, we have contributed from our little resources in putting smiles on faces of the least of the less privileged in the society and are happy that as we touch those lives, they pray and bless our mentor, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON.”
Danfulani noted that the Kaduna State chapter is, however, constrained in some key areas that would have made them have more impact.
He said: “For instance, within the last two years, we have operated from five different offices as a result of not having a permanent office complex.
“Another major setback we encountered is that if mobility.
“Using our private vehicles on trips to communities at the grassroots has attracted suspicion as well as been a burden to our individual finances.
“We however in spite of the daunting challenges gone ahead to do sensitization tours in all the wards in Kaduna State and are happy to announce that our impact was felt during the exercise.
“Kaduna Atiku Care Foundation would also humbly request that some of us are drafted into the national executives of the foundation in view of the impact we have been able to create.
“We will not rest on our oars until our mentor, father and by God’s grace, the next President of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, presides over affairs of our country from Aso Rock.”
The chairman added that they believe that Abubakar’s Presidency would usher in peace, prosperity and for Nigeria.
