Senator Mark, who was reacting to a statement credited to the APC National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, purporting that the President of the Senate called for the postponement of the 2015 election, said the allegation “was a bogus and blatant lie.”
He recalled that in the course of debate in the hallowed chambers of the Senate, he had maintained that the issue of insurgency which was the subject of the debate must be addressed now and not election matters.
“Unfortunately, among the arrays of national newspapers and reporters covering the Senate, only the Daily Trust reporter, Hassan A. Turaki misrepresented me and this has been further embellished by APC’s Alhaji Lai. Mohammed.
“I do not need the misinterpretation of the Daily Trust or the embellishment of Alhaji Lai Mohammed to give myself expression on any position that I hold. I did not call for election postponement.
The 2015 general election is of importance not just to the Daily Trust and Alhaji Lai Mohammed but to every Nigerian and all true lovers of democracy, Senator Mark maintained.
