SSS, police nab Delta’s notorious kidnapper

Operatives of the Department of State Security in Delta State have arrested notorious kidnapper, Ibruvwe Kelvin, who had terrorized the oil rich state for decades.
The suspect had several times been declared wanted before he met his waterloo.
Kelvin was arrested in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State in his hotel room by a combined team of the security operatives who mobilized to the state from Delta State.
Kelvin’s gang, described as “ruthless, wicked and brutal”, unleashed terror on their victims during their escapade.
A police source revealed that for several months, Kelvin and his gang held the entire oil rich state to ransom, making millions from families of kidnapped victims.
Social activities in the state never thrived during their reign while important personalities and politicians of note disguised for fear of being kidnapped by the Kelvin-led gang.
Several security personnel lost their lives through the barrels of the gun of the gang for daring to protect their master/mistress.
An Assistant Commissioner of Police, Onyire Kaneneolisa, who confirmed the arrest of the suspect, said Kelvin is cooling off in the yard of the DSS, Delta State Command, Asaba.
Prior to his arrest, police had placed a ransom of N2 million on him.
A police statement described him as the most wanted kidnapper and robbery kingpin in Delta State.
Kelvin, who hails from Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of the state,had early this year allegedly ambushed a Nigeria Prison Services Hilux van conveying suspects to Warri and shot dead three warders in an attempt to rescue his gang members awaiting trail.
He became a top priority suspect in security circle in the state.
Because of the perceived information that he was “influential” and had commercial motorcyclists in his community, who gave information to him on would-be-victims and movement of security agents, on his payroll, the state government, some months ago, banned commercial motorcycle activities in Kokori and other parts of Ethiope East Local Government Area.
The police raided Kokori last April and brought down the family home of kelvin, suspected to be the operational headquarters of the gang leader.
Several months of man-hunt for Kelvin by the detectives of the Delta State Police Command did not yield the desired result.
Recently, 50 persons were arrested in the Kokori native home of Kelvin in a bid by the police to track him down.
Kelvin was also declared wanted for the murder of several soldiers and policemen.
The Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, had recently told community leaders of Kokori in a meeting in Government House, Asaba, to help fish out Kelvin and his gang.
