A splinter group has emerged within the Nigerian Governors’ Forum.
This came about as the governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party formed the PDP Governors’ Forum.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Barrister Godswill Akpabio, emerged as the chairman of the newly-formed group.
The formation of the group was announced after the meeting of the governors elected on the platform of the PDP with President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Sunday.
The meeting lasted late into the night.
The Chairman of the NGF and Governor of Rivers State, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, who has been accused of wanting to perpetuate himself in office as the head of the governors’ body, stormed out of the meeting in Aso Rock after the decision to form the PDPGF.
The meeting was presided over by President Jonathan and attended by the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur.
