A bill for an Act to repeal and reenact the Standards Organization of Nigeria Act CAP S9 LFN 2003 for the purpose of providing additional functions for the Organisation, increasing penalty for violation and for other related matters on Tuesday on the floor of the Senate passed second reading.
The bill, which was co-sponsored by the Senate Leader, Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, and Senator Nenadi Usman, was referred to the Committee on Investment.
Also on Tuesday, the Local Refineries Licensing Bill 2014 presented by Senator Magnus Abe passed first reading.
The Senate President, David Mark, also read out correspondence from President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the confirmation of Barrister Bimbola Salaudeen from Lagos State as a member of the National Population Commission.
The Senate adjourned plenary till December 16, 2014.
