Senior Customs Officers in promotion exam malpractices, CG orders cancellation

Senior Officers of the Nigeria Customs Service have been indicted for involvement in examination malpractices, the Nigerian Tribune is reporting.
According to available information, the senior officers, from the rank of Assistant Comptroller of Customs to Deputy Comptroller of Customs, compromised the “integrity” of their promotion examination.
Owing to this development, the highly authoritative newspaper said the Comptroller General of the NCS, Colonel Hameed Ali (rtd), has ordered the cancellation of the examination and the conduct of a fresh one.
The order to cancel the examination was contained in a circular dated November 22, 2017, signed by the Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Human Resources.
The fresh examination is now to be held on November 27, 2017 at the Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, Abuja.
The circular, with reference number: NCS/ABJ/HRD/560/C/VOL.VIII, addressed to all management staff and Customs formations nationwide, reads in part: “The 2017 Promotion Examination (CBT) AC-DC (GD) taken on the 11th of October 2017 has been cancelled.
“This is consequent upon violation of integrity of the examination process.”
The Nigerian Tribune said it learnt that the irregularities that led to the cancellation of the examination included leakage of examination questions.
