The Senate Committee on Public Account on Thursday threatened to issue warrant of arrest on the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman; and Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, over failure to give account of expenditure incurred in 2015 by their Ministries.
The Chairman of the Committee, Senator Mathew Urhoghide, said this on Thursday while addressing newsmen.
Urhoghide said the Ministers are committed to giving account of the money spent by their ministries in the 2015 budget.
He said: “The Ministry of Information and Culture stated that the consultants handling the Consultancy projects and the contractors for the year 2015 are not available due to the restrictions occasioned by the Coronavirus.”
On the Ministry of Power, the Chairman said: “The Ministry stated it was still producing documents for the hearing.”
The Ministry of women Affairs in the letter submitted to the Committee said it was seeing the query for the first time and needed time to get a copy of the query and prepare relevant documents for its appearance before the Committee.
