The Senate on Thursday mandated its standing Committee on Foreign Loans and Debt to scrutinise the request of President Muhammadu Buhari for $5.5 billion foreign loan.
Buhari had on Tuesday written to the Senate for the consideration of $5.5 billion loan.
The motion to refer the loan to the appropriate committee was moved by Senate Leader, Senator Ahamad Lawan.
The Senator Shehu Sani-led Committee led committee is expected to submit the report for consideration in two weeks.
Speaking through his Twitter handle on Thursday morning, Senator Dino Melaye said the committee would engage experts, public opinion, project value and loans conditions before recommendation.
