Akinfemisoye Ayo has amassed 12 points and a cumulative of +550 to win the monthly Scrabble competition which ended in Abeokuta today.
The monthly is usually a closed championship but at the beginning of the year, it is made an open to help the young and new entrants have a taste of what it is in the bigger terrain.
Adeagbo Babatunde was the leader in a three-tie second position.
He, like the other two players in the tie, have 10 points.
But he led with a +473 cumulative while Ikebude Stephen who had 10 points amassed +238 cumulative beating Adekansi Adebisi who also had 10 points but a +219 cumulative.
Others in the top-10 queue are Ogunjobi Leke 8 points and + 350 cumulative, Sobowale Olumide had 8 points and + 87 cumulative.
Quadri Oladimeji also had 8 points and a cumulative of +57.
Afolayan Bunkumi had 6points and +318 cumulative.
Ayedun John had 6 points +166 cumulative, with Ariyo Olayinka having 6 points and a +13 cumulative.
The competition had some bingos exhibited such as: Waterish, Evildoer, Pantile, Triaged, Unhorses, Gratinee and Thornier.
Other bingos delivered on the boards during the championship included Derision, Buntiest, Mosaics, Calipers, Yersinia, Glutens, Stelene among other brilliant words.
Rotimi Odulele was the tournament director while the assistant director was Wale ‘Webber’ Ogedengbe.
However, Quadri Oladimeji announced that the monthly jamming will revert to the old format from the February edition.
“The closed format you would agree with me, will put our players in good and smoking form at the biggest stage, the Godswill Akpabio Classic, the most lucrative scrabble competition in the world.”
