Robbers steal 600 aluminium sheets from Asaba Textile Mill

Seven persons were on Monday nabbed for stealing the aluminium sheets at the old Asaba Textile Mill, Delta State.
The property, valued over N50 million, was stolen by unknown persons before the G.U.O. Group of Company, Onitsha, Anambra State alerted the police.
The state Public Relations Officer, DSP Celestina Kalu, who confirmed the theft, said: “Based on the report, detectives swung into action and arrested one Charles Ikebisi ‘m’, aged 37 years of Omirigboma camp, Asaba at the scene while his unknown accomplice escaped.”
According to the PPRO, the stolen aluminium sheets were later found at Okwe, awaiting evacuation by buyers from Onitsha.
Kalu said: “Consequently, the detectives rushed to the scene and arrested one Egwu Sunday ‘m’, aged 24yrs, pastor Zephaniah Esiobu ‘m’ aged 54yrs, Osita Uche ‘m’ aged 31yrs, Hyginus Dibor ‘m’, aged 24yrs, David Chukwunyere ‘m’ aged 32yrs, and Obiorah Okeke ‘m’ aged 38yrs.”
She said the suspects have since confessed to the crime and mentioned their gang leader, “who is now at large.”
She listed the items recovered from them to include 600 sheets of aluminium.
