Governor Mohammed Bindow of Adamawa on Tuesday said that efforts were on the way to establish a military barrack in Numan Local Government Area of the state.
Bindow disclosed this at the security meeting held at the Lamido Adamawa Palace in Yola.
According to the governor, the military base will enhance rapid response to insecurity situations within the area.
He said that the security of lives and property in the state was his major challenge.
He assured that the government would not relent in its efforts to secure the people against kidnappings, armed banditry and other unwholesome conduct in the state.
He condemned the recent spate of kidnappings, saying that it was unacceptable.
Bindow commended the traditional rulers for their contributions to the security situation, adding that their suggestions would be implemented with sincerity.
Responding, Dr Barkindo Mustafa, Lamido Adamawa, urged Nigerians to have a rethink of peaceful coexistence in the past.
Mustapha, who is the Chairman of Adamawa Traditional Rulers’ Council, assured that the traditional rulers would work hard to restore the peaceful coexistence enjoyed among citizens in the past.
He expressed regretted over the recent herdsmen-farmers clash in the state and other parts of the country.
He wondered why the clashes, which had been insignificant, had taken a toll of unimaginable proportion.
He commended the governor for giving room for the traditional rulers’ participation in security meetings in the state.
NAN reports that chairmen of 21 local government councils in the state were also part of the meeting.
