Power outage, again, at Lagos airport

There was power outage again on Sunday at the domestic wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos State.
The power outage affected operations at the airport in the early hours of the day.
The international wing of the airport was affected by power outage less than a month ago.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria on Sunday apologized over the power outage.
According to a statement by the General Manager, Communications of FAAN, Yakubu Dati, the outage was caused by a fault from the source of supply.
The statement by Dati reads: “The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria wishes to apologise to the general public, especially users of the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Terminal 1, Lagos, over the power out age experienced in the early hours of Sunday, March 17, 2013, which affected early morning operations.
“Our engineers detected some anomaly at the source of power and promptly shut down power to avoid further damage and rectify the problem.
“Temporary emergency power was consequently provided to allow for basic check-in, baggage and security processes.
“The emergency power, however cannot carry the air-conditioning system.
“In the interim, industrial fans have been mobilised to alleviate the obvious inconvenience being experienced by our passengers while our combined team of engineers are working closely with staff of PHCN to restore  power in the shortest possible time.
“The Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mr. George Uriesi who personally supervised the situation spoke to the passengers through the PA system, explaining the unfolding situation and tendering apologies.
“Operations and flights have since resumed.
“The Authority appreciates the patience and understanding of passengers and the general public as it overcomes the teething challenges of transforming into a modern airport authority.”
