The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has pledged that local governments in the state would experience transformation if voted into power.
He made the promise in Abeokuta on Monday during his visit to the Alake and paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo.
Kashamu, who solicited the support of the monarch, said that the council areas in the state were in poor condition due to paucity of funds.
The governorship candidate who described himself as a grassroots politician, said he would ensure that funds meant for local governments were not hijacked by the state government.
He said: “If voted into power, I will perform wonders in Ogun through the transformation of our local governments.
“I will ensure that there is free flow of funds to the local governments so that our people can feel the presence of the government.”
He also said that he had given over 2,000 vehicles and thousands of motorcycles and bags of rice through his Omo-Ilu Foundation which he had continued to use as a platform to empower Ogun citizens.
Kashamu, who is currently representing Ogun East Senatorial District, added that he had executed over 100 projects within three and half years.
The PDP candidate commended the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for the infrastructural development that the state had witnessed under his administration.
He, however, promised that he would take development, particularly at the grassroots, to an enviable height.
Kashamu also promised to establish and promote community and micro-finance banks to enhance easy access to loans for investment purposes.
Responding, the monarch prayed for God’s blessings over Kashamu’s ambition.
