Police recover explosive device from bank in Osun

The police in Osogbo on Tuesday recovered an improvised explosive device from the premises of an old generation bank in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
The development led to panic closure by banks and other business outfits in the metropolis.
Security personnel at the bank, located on Station Road, first detected the device and drew the attention of the manager to it.
The incident was reported to the Anti-Bomb Squad of the police command, which deployed its operatives to the scene to recover the device.
Many bank customers in Osogbo were, however, stranded as a result of the development as they could not undertake normal banking transactions.
Security operatives also mounted surveillance in all the banks in the metropolis.
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ibrahim Maishanu, confirmed the development.
Maishanu also said that the Anti-Bomb Squad of the command confirmed that the object detected was an improvised explosive device.
He, however, said the police were on top of the situation and would do everything to ensure that peace was sustained in the state.
Visitors were barred from entering the affected bank on Tuesday as it was cordoned off by policemen.
