The police in Enugu State have commenced investigation into the alleged beheading of a lady, Susana Enejere, by a man in Ugbene Ajima, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ebere Amaraizu, who disclosed this in a statement in Enugu on Thursday, said the killing took place on Monday.
Amaraizu said: “It was gathered that the lady identified as one Susana Enejere of Ugbene Ajima in Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area had gone to farm on that fateful day and never came back.”
The PPRO said that the law enforcement agents got the information and intensified a search in the early hours of the following day.
He said that based on intelligence information, a man from Ugwuoda village in the nearby Nimbo community was promptly nabbed in connection with the incident.
According to Amaraizu, following his arrest, the suspect took police operatives to the place where he beheaded the victim.
He said: “The headless body together with the severed head have been recovered and deposited in a nearby mortuary.
“The suspect is helping police operatives in their investigations.’’
