The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two for kidnapping in the state.
It was learnt that operatives attached to Mubi North Division on Sunday arrested Aminu Jika, 36, and Muhammed Umar, 32, both residents of Wuro patuji Village, Mubi North Local Government.
In a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, the suspects, prior to their arrest, kidnapped an 11-year-old boy at Sangere Futy, Girei Local Government Area.
Nguroje said following a report made to police over the kidnap of the 11-year-old boy, the suspects demanded and collected five million as ransom before letting the boy go.
According to the PPRO, since the kidnap of the boy, the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adeyanju, directed the immediate investigation and possible arrest of the culprits.
Nguroje stated that the police having gone the extra mile, successfully apprehended the culprits, recovered a Toyota Hilux, three number plates and handsets among other things.
Nguroje noted that the Command while assuring members of the public of its commitments to protecting lives and properties, enjoins residents to report any suspicious person or group around their neighborhoods to the nearest Police Division or report same through any of the Police Command Control/Emergency numbers: 08089671313, 08107364974, 08053872326.
The PPRO added that the suspects will be arraigned before a competent Court for law to take its full course.
