The Police in Ekiti on Wednesday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Joshua Temitope, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged theft of motorcycle.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The police prosecutor, Insp. Johnson Okunade, told the court that the defendant and one other person at large committed the offence on Oct. 22, at about 4.00p.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that the defendant and his accomplice stole one Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, with registration number FKJ 342 QM, valued at N360,000 and belonging to one, Onipede Kazeem.
He noted that the offence contravened Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
He urged the court to adjourn the case, to enable him to study the case file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant pleaded not guilty.
Counsel for the defendant, Abiola Gboyega, urged the court to grant the defendant bail and promised that the defendant would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Adedayo Oyebanji, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Nov. 25 for hearing.
