The Plateau State chapter of the Nigerian Labour Congress says it has fully mobilized workers on the Plateau to comply with the nationwide warning strike to be declared midnight of Wednesday.
The Secretary of the NLC in Plateau State, Comrade Francis Izam, who disclosed this at a media briefing shortly after a SEC meeting with union leaders at the Labour House in Jos, said monitoring teams have been set up to ensure strict compliance.
Izam said the NLC, Trade Union Congress and other affiliates unions have decided to embark on a warning strike due to the failure of the government in implementing the National Minimum Wage.
According to him, Labour had dialogue with government on issues concerning the welfare of Nigerian workers, but up till now there has been no positive response on the side of government towards the implementation of the new minimum wage, making Labour leaders to resort to call on her members to withdraw their services.
It will be recalled that on Tuesday the National Secretariat of the NLC issued a circular to all industrial unions, all NLC State Councils directing them to commence nationwide warning strike.
In a circular released by Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, General Secretary, organized labour said the strike is in respect of the non-implementation of the National Minimum Wage.
The strike, according to the circular, is effective from midnight of September 26, 2018.
