Hon. Kayode Oladele, member, House of Representatives representing Imeko-Afon and Yewa North Federal Constituency in Ogun State was on his way from Iperu where he had gone to congratulate and felicitate with the Ogun State Governor-elect, Prince Dapo Abiodun, and heading back to Abeokuta, the state capital, when an alleged assassination attempt was made on his life on Monday.
According to a statement from the Oladele Media Network on Monday, the Chairman of House Committee on Financial Crimes was only lucky to have escaped.
The statement from the Oladele Media Network said: “After passing Kobape village along the expressway, just about ten minutes away from Abeokuta,a white mini-van emerged at a very top speed behind Oladele’s vehicle, and within a fraction of seconds, swerved in front of the vehicle and attempted to double cross Oladele’s vehicle thus forcing his driver to lose control and away from the road into the median. The honorable’s vehicle crashed into and pulled down three street light poles on the median and dragged them several meters before it could stop!
“Like in the movie style premeditated assassination attempts and other hit and run cases, the driver of the white mini van and its occupants sped away from the scene of accident without offering any help or explanation for their action. Oladele’s driver later recollected having noticed the white mini van behind him making strange movements shortly before the accident.
“We thank God that though the Lexus SUV is totaled, Oladele is safe and sound, and has personally responded to several phone calls from well wishers.”
