A tragic accident that occurred at Iju-Ota area along Idiroko Road has claimed the life of a pedestrian, while two others are recovering at the Medicare Hospital in Ota.
According to information available to The Eagle Online, the deceased and injured were run over by a truck that developed a fault.
The deceased has been identified as Bakare Tofunmi, 22, while those injured were Imoh Christian, 23, and Alabiduni Ifeoluwa, 19.

They were knocked down by a DAF truck that developed mechanical fault on motion while heading towards Atan-Ota, Ogun State.
The Eagle Online was made to understand that the truck driver, Jimoh Rafiu, while coming from Igando axis of Lagos State, lost control of his wheel due to a sudden locked steering and knocked down the three pedestrians walking by the road side.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, Omolola Odutola, said the victims sustained serious bodily injuries and were rushed to Medicare Hospital in Ota for treatment.
“In the process, one of the pedestrians, Bakare Tofunmi, later died while receiving treatment and his corpse, confirmed by the doctor on duty, was later deposited at the State Hospital Ota Mortuary for autopsy,” Odutola, a Superintendent of Police, stated.
She noted that a police team from Onipanu Police Division, responding to reports, arrived at the scene, photographs were taken and the vehicle recovered to the station for safekeeping and VIO inspection.
