The Osun Community and Social Development Agency has trained stakeholders and community champions on the implementation of the Osun Cares programme aimed at mitigating the negative impact of COVID-19 on the people of Osun State.
The project, christened: “Osun CARES,” focusing on health, water and education, would be implemented by the CSDA.
The Osun State Government has entered into a partnership with the World Bank to implement a programme as part of the post COVID-19 recovery initiative.
Speaking during the training, the General Manager of the Agency, Funmi Abokede, said the state Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, was passionate about the welfare of the people of the state and committed to their well-being, which informed the decision to implement their project.
Abokede said the training for community champions and other stakeholders in the state was to keep them abreast of the nitty-gritty of the project so as to fit in perfectly, derive maximum benefit and ensure service delivery.
The CSDA boss lauded Governor Oyetola for his desire to alleviate the suffering of the people and make life better for them.
According to her: “COVID-19 had negative impacts on the people, particularly on their health and economy.
“The State Government of Osun is very sensitive about the plight of the people.
“That’s why there is an intervention called Osun CARES, which is being co-funded by the Osun State Government and World Bank.
“Because our Governor, Alhaji Isiaka Adegboyega Oyetola, is really interested in the welfare of the people, he allows the Osun Agency for Community and Social Development to implement the project.
“The project would focus on health, water and education.
“This will go a long way to mitigate the negative impacts of COVID-19 on our people and improve their well-being.”
