Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State has urged Christians in the country to renew their commitment to the service of God and humanity as they celebrate Easter.
In his Easter message signed by Peter Okhiria, his Chief Press Secretary, Oshiomhole said: “I wish to extend my felicitations to our Christian brothers and sisters as we celebrate this year’s Easter.
“While it is important to rejoice and celebrate with family, friends and community, the profound spiritual essence of the season must not be lost on all faithful.
“Easter should provide an opportunity to deepen our faith in God. It is an occasion to renew the spirit of obeisance to the will of our creator, it a time to reflect on God’s amazing love; a time to make sacrifices; a time to put others first and self last; a time to forgive all ills and a time to reconnect to God.
“As we celebrate this season, I beseech all faithful not to relent in their prayers for our state and the country: prayers for our country to overcome all her challenges, and prayers for our state that God should bless our efforts to revive the state and to grant her the peace and unity necessary for her prosperity and progress.
“May the Love of the risen Christ be upon all faithful now and beyond the Easter season.”
