One person was killed and several others injured following the clash of two cult groups in Anifowoshe and Odunlade streets and its environs in Somolu area of Lagos State.

The deceased was said to have been stabbed and his severed wrist carted away by a factional cult group.

Petrified residents in both streets on Friday sent a Save Our Soul to the police over the deadly cult clash that threw the communities into chaos on Thursday night.

According to the residents, members of two rival cult gangs ran into each other, which resulted in a free for all that claimed the life of one person who was gruesomely stabbed and his wrist severed.

Eyewitnesses claimed that both groups attacked each other armed to the teeth with deadly weapons, forcing frightened residents to scamper for safety.

It also gathered that windscreens of parked and moving vehicles were smashed.

They also alleged that family members of the deceased were not allowed to carry the dead body, which the police had taken custody of.

Some junctions in the area on Friday morning were littered with broken bottles, shattered windscreen and stones.

When our reporter contacted the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, to confirm the incident and find out the number of those arrested and number of vehicles damaged, he replied that he was yet to get an official report on the incident.
