Chelsea starlet, Kenneth Omeruo, admitted he rejoined Middlesbrough on loan after Jose Mourinho convinced him that it was the best place to gain experience.
The Super Eagles defender signed a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge in May, but is not currently in Mourinho’s first-team plans.
And Boro boss, Aitor Karanka, who worked as Mourinho’s assistant manager at Real Madrid, confirmed earlier this week that the 20-year-old defender would be returning on a season-long loan.
Omeruo spent the second-half of last season with the Championship outfit and admits he made his decision to return to The Riverside after talking to Mourinho and technical director Michael Emenalo about his future.
“I had a chat with Michael Emenalo and after hearing the plans Chelsea had for me next season, I think the best place for me to achieve this goal is to go back to Middlesbrough,” he said.
“I want to thank Chelsea and according to Mourinho, Middlesbrough is the best place for me to gain enough experience and play a lot of games.
“I made a decision after hearing from Mourinho and Emenalo and I am happy with my decision.”
