The Delta State House of Assembly on Tuesday swiftly screened and confirmed a former frontline governorship aspirant in the state, Sir Tony Obuh, as a Commissioner.
Besides, Obuh, the former Commissioner for Power in the state, Charles Emetulu, who resigned to contest the governorship seat, was also confirmed.
Their confirmation was sequel to Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan’s letter conveying their names for screening and confirmation, addressed to the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya.
The letter, which was read on the floor of the House at the resumption of plenary after a long adjournment for Christmas and New Year breaks, saw to Obuh’s immediate confirmation.
While Obuh resigned as the Permanent Secretary (Government House), having put in 32 years in the Civil Service, Emetulu resigned to be option “B” in the calculation.
On December 8 during the Peoples Democratic Party primary election, Obuh lost to Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, who polled 406.
Onwusanya simply asked the nominees to a bow, following an application to that effect by the Majority Leader, Hon. Monday Igbuya.
They were immediately invited for screening and their appointments confirmed after introducing themselves and mentioning their council areas.
