NPFL: Rangers’ Team Manager still optimistic of finishing well

Rangers International Football Club Team Manager, Amobi Ezeaku, says the team has potential to finish well in the league.
Rangers are occupying the 13th position with 46 points on the league table.
Ezeaku made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Enugu.
He said: “The club can still pick a continental ticket in the ongoing NPFL competition if they win their remaining four matches.”
According to Ezeaku, the Federation Cup competition is another option, insisting the club still have the chance of going all the way to win the competition.
He said: “With all optimism, I believe that we can win all our matches starting from the first match despite who we may be paired with in the competition.
“What matters in football is taking a game at a time and I know that the competition is traditionally on knock-out basis and we are going to be cautious and take the games seriously.’’
On the League Management Company’s new rule of replay in a draw match from the first round matches instead of the normal penalty shoot-out, the team manager said that football rules keep changing from the highest body to the lowest.
Ezeaku said: “Rules changes from the Federation of  International Football Association to Confederation of African Football and to the Nigeria Football Federation.
“Development is paramount in the game of football and I believe that the committee responsible for the competition looked critically into such before coming up with it.
“What is left is putting it into practice and see how it works out and take it up from there and then do not remove the joy and pressure that penalty shoot-out brings to the game of football.’’
He said that the league is flexible for now and that might have prompted the decision.
He said: “I know that NFF and the LMC are working hand -in -hand and that is why they see such as the best for now.’’
