Senate at the weekend vowed not to drop ongoing probe into alleged diversion of N2 trillion by the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Larmode to a logical conclusion.
George Uboh, had Petitioned the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions, accusing EFCC boss of diverting recovered stolen funds amounting to N2 trillion.
However, Senators under the aegis of Unity Forum, and the PDP Senators through a statement by the Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio kicked against the probe, saying it violated the procedure of the Senate.
But Chairman, Senate Ad hoc Committee on Publicity , Senator Dino Melaye explained that there was nothing wrong with the probe, assuring that the Committee would pursue the probe of anti-graft agency to logical conclusion.
He added that a Senator may decide to submit his or her petition from a member of their senatorial district in plenary or submit to Senate President directly.
“There is no procedural error in the EFCC’s probe because how petition can be submitted had already been stated in Senate’s rule book, “he said.
