The Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Monday declared that the activities of terrorists’ group, Boko Haram have clearly shown that they neither represent anything good nor religious inclination but purely extremist pursuing anti-people agenda.
Mark stated this while addressing the congregation at St. Monica’s Catholic church, Otada near Otukpo, Benue State to mark the last Sunday of 2014.
The Senate president urged Nigerians to see the Boko Haram terrorists as enemy of the people by uniting in the ongoing fight against the sect.
Senator Mark pleaded with the perpetrators of violence and killings to give peace a chance.
He pointed out that what Nigerians earnestly desired was peace, love and unity to heal the wounds inflicted on them by insurgents and Boko Haram adherents.
The Senate President, in a press statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, advised Nigerians to resort to prayers against forces of evil.
According to him, “We must not allow the evil doers to succeed.
“With prayers God will put them to shame.”
The Senate president pointed out that the issue of security is not a matter for politics but an issue that demands cooperation and action to tackle.
The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Kenneth Ode, in his sermon, urged all Nigerians, irrespective of faith, to resort to prayer as a potential weapon to end insurgency and terrorism ravaging the country.
