Muslims from Nigeria will, from Friday (today), join their counterparts all over the world in observing the yearly fasting in the Holy month (Ramadan).
This followed the announcement late on Thursday by the Sultan of Sokoto and President of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammed Sa’ad Abubakar, that the new moon was sighted on Thursday night.
Abubakar said the moon was sighted in Bornu, Kebbi, Zamfara States.
He urged Muslims to observe the fast, which will last for 29 or 30 days.
