The Niger State Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, on Thursday called on all Corps members to see themselves as change agents and join in the fight against corruption.
Bello also assured them that the fight against insurgency and terrorism will be more decisive.
Bello said during the swearing in ceremony of the 2015 Batch ‘A Stream two’ corps members at the National Youth Service Corps orientation camp, Paiko that youths are a vital tool in national march to evolution and integration.
According to him: “We are prepared and determined to lead the nation with sincerity of purpose.
“Corps members must be ready to participate fully and join hands with all Nigerians to fight the scourge of corruption.
“You must cultivate the spirit of hard work and selfless service.
“I assure all Nigerians that the fight against insurgency and terrorism will be more decisive and purposeful.”
While expressing President Muhammadu Buhari’s readiness to end insurgency and corruption, Bello said “the government is committed to restoring peace in the affected areas and guarantee the security of lives and properties of every Nigerian”.
Furthermore, he enjoined Corps members to avoid indulging in crimes and other negative vices that impede our collective efforts to move the nation forward.
According to him: “Our quest for peace and progress has been disrupted and frustrated by social ills, many of them perpetrated by young people.
“Change for us is not just a political slogan.
“It is the dawn of the new order, sought for by majority of our people.
“The true change that we desire must start with everyone of us.
“We must all embrace attitudinal change and the courage to do the right thing.”
A total of 2,200 Corps members were sworn in by the state Chief Judge, Justice Fati Abubakar.
