NFF confirms Nnewi for Flying Eagles camping

The Nigeria Football Federation has named Anambra State as the sponsor of the FIFA U- 20 World Cup-bound Flying Eagles and not the Ifeanyi Uba Foundation as was reported in the media.
The Secretary General of the NFF, Barrister Musa Amadu said: “It is still in Nnewi that the Flying Eagles would camp.
“You know that as a result of paucity of funds, we reached out to Anambra State Government and a very influential person who was also to assist the Federation to camp the team also in Anambra.”
The NFF Scribe disclosed that there was lack of communication and “that was why the NFF had to reach out to two bodies at the same time.
“But I am happy that at least it shows that the state governments and individuals are ready to come to the aid of the Federation to sponsor our programmes now that we are having paucity of funds.
“This would help us greatly to arrange the training camp for the boys here in Nigeria before they now travel Germany, France before going to Turkey for the World Cup.
“The camping is still going to be in Nnewi and latest this Thursday all the players would assemble in Nnewi for a training camp.
“The 21 players that went to Algeria for the African U-20 Championship and also some other players the coach have invited and the three dropped players from the Golden Eaglets will now be fighting for shirt.”
Amadu also used the opportunity to reel out the team’s programmes and itinerary leading to their first match against Portugal in the U-20 World Cup.
He said: “The players would later be trimmed down to 30 and on the 12th of May these players would travel to Germany for training camp and will be there till the 27th of May.
“On the 27th of May, the team would cross over to Tolon in France from Germany for the Tolon tournament, which is from the 27th of May to 8th of June.
“After the Tolon Tournament, the team will return to Germany for 10 days to train and get prepared for the FIFA U- 20 World Cup in Turkey.
“They will leave Germany on the 17th of June and travel to Turkey for their first match on the 20th of June against Portugal.”
