The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Gombe State has re-arrested a 29-year-old woman, Yabi Ibrahim, with 5.3 grammes of cocaine and heroine and five other drug traffickers.
Aliyu Adole, the state Commandant of the NDLEA, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday that the command re-arrested Ibrahim of Karofin Bolari Quarters, Gombe, after she was released on bail by the Federal High Court, Gombe.
Adole said: “This woman was released on bail and she came out started selling cocaine again.
“Her mother is still in prison awaiting trial.
“The Federal High Court, Gombe does not have a sitting judge and this is affecting us because all our cases are on withholding charges which is not too comfortable.
“All our cases are waiting trials in various courts.
“We have like 32 awaiting trial suspects in prison.”
Adole called on the authority concerned to facilitate appointment of a resident judge to be able to continue with such cases in the state.
Adole said with the present situation, the command was facing a lot of challenges in discharging its duties.
The commandant said the other five suspects were arrested within a week with 8.9 kilogrammes of cannabis and psychotropic substances.
He said that only the High Court has jurisdiction to handle their matters.
