A 23-year old man, Musa Dauda, Tuesday was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos for alleged illegal drug trafficking by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
NDLEA is prosecuting Dauda for illegally dealing on cannabis sativa also known as Indian Hemp.
In the charge singed by the Prosecutor, N.J Mamza, the defendant committed the offence on February 24 in Lekki area of Lagos.
“365 grammes of cannabis sativa was found in the possession of the defendant.
“The substance is listed under NDLEA’s banned narcotics; it is a substance restricted by law.
“It bears similarity with cocaine, heroine or other psychotropic substances.
“NDLEA Act prescribes life imprisonment as penalty for anyone found guilty of offence,” the charge read in parts.
No date has been fixed for arraignment of the defendant.
