Bulus Dabit, the Director of the National Orientation Agency in Plateau, has decried the violation of national symbols by corporate organisations and some citizens.
Debit made the remark in an interview with News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Jos.
He said that the Ordinance Act which governed the display of the national symbols, especially the national flag, was not being adhered to.
He said: It is unpatriotic for corporate organisations and some Ministries, Department and Agencies of Government to violate the flag by flying wrong or tattered flags.
“As we mark the ordinance day today, Nigerian citizens should reflect on our national symbols and draw inspiration from them to build a progressive society and good governance.”
The director said the abuse of national currency coat of arms and national anthem in various ways was indicative of the unpatriotic disposition and dysfunctional attitude of some Nigerians.
He said Nigerians should also show love and loyalty to the country and its leaders, saying this would shore up its development.
He said the national ordinance day marked annually on September 16 should be a remainder to Nigerians to desist from pulling its national leaders down but offer constructive criticisms.
