More PDP governors to join APC – Kwankwaso

The Kano State Governor, Malam Rabiu Kwankwaso, has said that two of the G7 governors still in the Peoples Democratic Party would soon join the All Progressives Congress, while more governors would move into the party.

Governor Kwankwaso gave this indication at the Government House, Ilorin, Kwara State when he paid a courtesy visit on the Kwara State Governor, Dr. Abdulfatah Ahmed, as part of his consultation bid for the presidential ticket of the APC for the 2015 election.

Kwankwaso described APC members as practical people with extensive grassroots reach that will rejuvenate the national economy, tackle corruption and ensure national growth.

He said: “Our economy can never be good in a situation of crisis.

“Our economy can never be good in the face of corruption.

“Those who are trying to convince us that the economy is good don’t know what they are saying.

“Yes, their economy is good.

“The masses’ economy is bad.

“That is the situation today.

“And that is what the APC wants to correct.”

On the issue of consensus candidate for the presidential election, Kwankwaso said in line with its constitution, the APC would explore the possibility of consensus candidate within the ambit of democratic culture.

Kwankwaso commended the Kwara State Government for initiating various poverty alleviation and employment generation programmes, which have reduced youth unemployment and the attendant youth restiveness.

Ahmed, in his remarks, said the choice of the APC presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections would not only be devoid of acrimony, but strengthen the fortunes of the party.

Ahmed, who said Nigeria has had the misfortune of bad leadership despite the abundance of human and natural resources endowment, was optimistic that an APC government at the federal level will through strategic planning evolve quality leadership that Nigeria deserves.

According to him: “The APC is the fastest growing party in Nigeria and the only truly national political party, which came into being as a result of congruence of ideas on how to ensure that Nigeria moves again along the side of improving and growing nations.”
