The end of the crises in the All Progressives Grand Alliance appears not to be in sight.
This followed the resignation of the Secretary, Sani Shinkafi, of the Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State-led faction of the party and the position of another faction to the crisis that the Chairman of the Caretaker Committee set up on Saturday, Chief Maxi Okwu, remains suspended from the party.
Shinkafi, who appeared with another factional Chairman of the party, Chief Victor Umeh, on a national television programme on Monday, said he was not a party to the appointment of Okwu as chairman of the caretaker committee.
He said his loyalty remains with the Umeh faction of the party, where he also functions as secretary.
Umeh told newsmen that he remains the authentic national chairman of APGA.
In a related development, the Sadeeq Masalla faction of the party told newsmen on Monday in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, that Okwu’s appointment remains an illegality.
Both Umeh and Masalla, at their separate press conferences in Abuja, said Okwu was expelled from APGA in 2004 on the grounds of anti-party activities and alleged stealing of party funds.
They both argued that Okwu lacks the constitutional requirements to lead APGA.
