Mikel debuts for Chinese club

John Mikel Obi graced the pitch for the first time in a Tianjin TEDA shirt as the midfielder played in a friendly match for the Chinese Super League club.
Obi took to Instagram to post a picture of himself posing with his new teammates in the heat as the Chinese side played Borussia Monchengladbach II.
The former Chelsea midfielder captioned the post: “First friendly game with the team #TianjinTEDA.”
Obi didn’t stop there when it came to posting pictures on his social media accounts.
He also uploaded a photo of him playing for the club on his Instagram story.
Obi has signed a three-year deal with Tianjin TEDA, after enjoying a successful 11-year career at Stamford Bridge.

The 29-year-old, who followed former teammate, Oscar, to China, won the Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups during his time at Chelsea.
Following his departure from the current Premier League leaders, Obi penned an open letter to Chelsea fans in which he said it has “truly been an honour” to play for the club.
In an open letter shared on his Twitter account, Obi shared memories of his greatest achievements during his years at Stamford Bridge.
