Out of favour Super Eagles striker, Ikechukwu Uche, is due to appear before a Spanish tribunal on Monday to testify in the match-fixing scandal leveled against him and some others players in the La Liga.
Uche was fingered in the match-fixing claim during his days at Real Zaragoza.
The Spanish club beat Levante 2-1 away from home to avoid relegation in 2011 and a tribunal has opened an investigation into the claims.
Zaragoza’s club President, Agapito Iglesias, at the time was called to testify before a judge, but the real revelations came from current Atletico Madrid captain, Gabi, who scored both goals in the match in question.
Meanwhile, Uche who was a player on that Zaragoza squad, has been asked to testify at the ongoing hearing on Monday.
Deportivo (the club relegated as a result of the ‘fixed’ Zaragoza-levante result, if fixed it was) is keeping an eye on proceedings.
The match-fixing scandal engulfing Spanish football extended to La Liga champions, Atletico Madrid’s captain Gabriel Fernandez ‘Gabi’ on Thursday, when it was revealed the player told the state prosecutor: “I did what the club told me to do.”
Gabi was captain of Zaragoza back in 2011.
