The National Assembly Complex has been shut down, Senate President David Mark announced Thursday.
Mark made the announcement at plenary in his capacity as the chairman of the National Assembly.
The closure was sequel to the taking over of the complex by security operatives earlier in the day and the prevention of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal from entering to complex to preside over a special session of the House.
The Senate was billed to continue discussion on the request of President Goodluck Jonathan for extension of emergency rule in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States.
Also, to enable the Senators take decision on the request, the Senate had summoned the Service Chiefs to appear at plenary to justify the request.
