Nigerian-born defender, Angelo Ogbonna has been linked with a transfer move to Premier League giants, Manchester United.
But United would face stiff competition for centre-back Ogbonna from Premier League rivals Arsenal.
Italy international Ogbonna has featured in all five of Juventus’s Serie A matches this season – and the Old Lady have kept clean sheets in every game.
Valued at £12 million, Ogbonna is an attractive option for Van Gaal, whose defence have already shipped in nine Premier League goals this season, plus four more in their humiliating Capital One Cup second round defeat to League One outfit MK Dons.
The United boss reportedly has concerns over the long-term fitness of Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans – all of whom missed Saturday’s 2-1 victory over West Ham, along with the suspended Tyler Blackett.
Ogbonna would certainly add some much-needed steal to United’s spine, and a bid may tempt Juventus to reluctantly consider the offer.
