He was said to have inflicted cuts on Olatunde’s neck at three different points.
Shortly after he arrived at the Police Post, the mob seeking revenge stormed the place, following which he had to be “rescued through the back door of the police post to Araromi Police Station in Ondo State, where he was properly detained”.
Attempts by the police to remove Olatunde’s body to the morgue were also resisted by the mob.
The mob also stopped an ambulance operator contracted to remove the body from doing so.
An indigene of the town, simply identified as Chief Woyin, and other community heads were prevailed upon to speak with the mob.
The Eagle Online was told that an investigation by the police into the incident was ongoing.
