The police on Monday arraigned one Aminu Saidu, 37, before a Katsina Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly committing sodomy with a seven-year-old boy.
Saidu, who resides at Yammawa quarters, Katsina, is facing a charge of having unnatural sex with a minor.
The prosecutor, Inspector Hashimu Musa, told the court that the accused committed the offence on February 7, 2015.
Musa told the court that one Zainab Muhammad reported the case at the Central Police Station, Katsina at about 3.30pm and accused Saidu of committing the crime.
He said: “The suspect lured the underage boy into his house and had sex with him through the anus against the order of nature.
“The victim was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Katsina for examination.”
The prosecutor that the offence contravened Section 284 of the Penal Code.
The Chief Magistrate, Hajiya Nafisa Bagiwa, said the accused was arraigned before the court for purpose of cognisance only.
Bagiwa directed the police to continue with the investigation and forward the case file to the Ministry of Justice for advice.
The magistrate adjourned the case till May 8 for continuation and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.
