Detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba, Lagos State have arrested a maid, Mary Francis, for allegedly conspiring with armed robbers to dispossess her employer, Jane Ashimi, of jewelries worth over N2 million and cash of over N200,000.
Francis was said to have connived with Igwu Ogana Matthew and two others simply identified as John and Peter to carry out the operation in Lagos State.
Francis, according to the police, met Matthew, John and Peter at Sagamu Motor Park in Ogun State in 2012 and gave detailed information about Ashimi to them.
She gave the men a vivid description of the house where she worked.
She was then said to have intentionally left the gate open at night to allow the men into the house.
The armed men, on gaining entry, tied up Ashimi.
Apart from the jewelry and cash, the armed men also took away one Honda Civic saloon car, a laptop, five mobile telephone handsets and $3,000.
Francis and the men however disagreed on whose idea the robbery was.
While Francis said the men initiated the idea on their own, Matthew said she was the one who sold the thought to them.
They said they only used a toy gun for the operation.
