The Divisional Police Officer of the National Assembly, Chief Superintendent of Police Abdul Sulu-Gambari, who was redeployed to Adamawa State by the Police hierarchy, on Monday officially handed over to his successor, Superintendent of Police Abdullahi Sambo.
It was gathered that Sulu-Gambari did the handing over to the new DPO at the Police designated office at the lobby of the National Assembly.
He was in mufti (white caftan), while Sambo was dressed in Police uniform.
Efforts by some journalists to interview the outgone DPO proved abortive as he declined comment, but applauded them for their cooperation while he held sway in the National Assembly.
Sulu- Gambari’s redeployment from the National Assembly is not unconnected with submissions he made to the National Assembly ad-hoc committee on the Senate invasion and mace theft on April 18, 2018.
The former DPO, while appearing before the National Assembly ad-hoc committee on mace theft, said some legislators connived with those who invaded the National Assembly.
Sulu-Gambari, who succeeded in apprehending some of the hoodlums who carried out the invasion and mace theft the very day the then suspended Senator Ovie Omo-Agege (APC-Delta Central) forcefully attended Senate plenary, made a lot of revelations to the Senator Bala Ibn Na’Allah (APC-Kebbi South) led committee.
According to the committee at its sitting last week Wednesday when the representative of the Inspector General of Police CP Abu Sani, appeared before it, the report given by the outgone DPO indicated that arrested hoodlums made confessional statements and were handed over to the Force Headquarters.
